Artist Biography

If Robin Boger had understood the languages spoken in each of her grandparents’ homes, she might not have been driven to so closely observe the life around her in order to know what was happening. This habit of close observation led her to search for and photograph visual markers of social and cultural behavior.

Her images from Cuba, Africa, and Japan have been shown at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA, the Chandler Gallery in Cambridge, MA, the Davis-Orton Gallery in Hudson, NY, and the Amanda Smith Gallery in Johnson City, Texas. Her “Text + Image” collaborations have been shown at the Griffin Museum of Photography and featured in “Matter” poetry magazine. Online presentations include: The 29th Annual Members Juried Online Exhibition of the Griffin Museum, “What Will You Remember? ”Highlights of the New England Portfolio Reviews, 2022; “The 2/22/22 Exhibition”: Lenscratch; “Unexpected Cuba” and “Women” in CubaSeen Zine, and “The Virtual Curated Shed” on the Social Documentary Network

Robin’s college and graduate work in the social sciences (Oberlin College, B.A.,1967; Duke University, M.A., 1968; University of Chicago, M.B.A. 1972, and ABD, Center for Comparative Education, 1973) and her policy work in both the public and private sectors have made her aware of how societies find unique ways of dealing with universal social problems.

She graduated from the New England School of Photography in 1995, studied printmaking at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and was a member of Mixit Print Studio in Somerville for ten years.
